Effect metrics (decision velocity, alignment, drift) matter more than activity metrics (volume, reach, engagement).
Counting emails sent, posts published, or messages delivered tells you almost nothing about whether communication is working. The metrics that matter capture downstream effect: were decisions made faster, did the message survive transmission, did teams act on it. Start with sampling rather than full instrumentation, pair quantitative signal with qualitative review, and resist the temptation to dashboard things that don't change behavior.
