Drift cannot be eliminated; it is a natural consequence of distributed communication. It can be detected early and corrected cheaply, or it can accumulate silently and become a strategic problem. The difference is whether the organization has invested in the three preventive layers: clear standards, runtime enforcement, and periodic auditing.
